Burning Fist: Chapter 4
Chapter 4: Southshire's Perils Part 2: The Frozen Woman A groan echoed through a frozen cavern as Damion’s body emerged from a pile of well-placed snow. Upon opening his eyes, his vision blurred as a result of the fall. He blinked several times before his sight focused, looking around at the dark, frozen corridors around him. He slowly moved to his feet, shaking his head, feeling pieces of snow falling to the ground. He winced as he held his head with one hand, which ached slightly. Otherwise, his body felt entirely uninjured, a miraculous feat given the fall. He shivered as he looked at the ground, seeing the pile of snow that circled his feet. Well, that’s convenient, he thought as he looked at where he landed. The snow was pure white and looked as soft as a cloud, a perfect place to break a fall. His mind shifted to Mira and Keon, who fell off the bridge as well. Could they still be alive? “Only one way to find out,” he muttered to himself as he slowly began to walk the frozen

I was a lonely kid
I was never good at making friends
My first friend in middle school
Was a friend I thought would last a lifetime
He was a bit eccentric, but we loved talking to each other
We talked about whatever crossed our minds
We joked around
He was a ray of sunshine in my otherwise miserable school life
That is until the next year
Something in him changed
He was no longer the nice but weird guy I loved last year
He has grown more aggressive, more nasty, and became a bully
Not only to me, but to others
It reached a boiling point during lunchtime
We argued over something pretty stupid in hindsight
I wasn’t g

Sometimes, I just feel so alone
Not because of my family who have been very good to me
Not because of my friends who make me laugh and look forward to certain days
And not because of school where I am doing well
It’s…because I feel misunderstood
Some people don’t get why I write
It’s because it’s something I’m good at
Some people don’t get my love of wrestling
It’s because it makes me happy and relaxes me
Some people wonder why I can’t look them in the eye
It’s because I’m shy and don’t want to upset anyone for no reason
Some people wonder why I ca

Rejection echoes
amid scattered questions

Rejection is effective
because of the efforts made
in a passion pursued
only to come up short

such as those respected
in that same passion
But Rejection is only

The gentle rustle of paper

They are dreams

Lately I have felt much like
a soul who travels in dark woods
where shadowy creatures abound
just at the edge of my sight
but they can all see me
Each resident in this vast forest
embodies another concern or fear
suffered by me or a loved one
that I refuse to let slip past
without a single action taken
Even when they crowd about me in a swarm and threaten to obscure the path ahead so much that I almost forget exactly why I am there in the first place
But I travel with a lantern
(which helps)
accompanied by a shadow
who has a strong resemblance
to a fierce wolf
